spiritual connection

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
Michelangelo

Have you ever been so inspired by something that you couldn’t wait to get started on a design? And once you started, everything just flowed perfectly, like it was somehow meant to be?

The inspiration:
Women's Ceremony by Naata Nungurrayi

I immediately felt a spiritual connection with a “Women’s Ceremony” painting by aboriginal artist, Naata Nungurrayi. “All her works are associated with women’s concerns and women’s Law (Tingari cycle). She paints traditional designs depicting sacred women’s sites and women performing sacred women’s ceremonies in the Kintore area as well as the designs that they paint on their bodies when performing ceremonies.”

The beads:
Women's Ceremony beads

These are my all time favorite beads! This was one of those times where the cane design just flowed effortlessly.

The final design:
Women's Ceremony Laura Bracken

One of my favorite things, as a bead artist, is seeing what my beads become in the hands of a jewelry designer. These gorgeous earrings were made by artisan jewelry designer, Laura Bracken. Laura’s jewelry designs range from bold and earthy to simple elegance. Check out Laura’s website to see more of her fabulous designs. Maybe Laura feels a spiritual connection with the beads also, since she only used two of them.
