Ice! We have about 3/4 of an inch of ice on everything. We’ve had power sporadically throughout the day.

You can click on any of the pictures to be taken to a full size version.
This picture was taken this morning. We had about a half inch of ice at that time. These are the huge old oak trees in my back yard. ice storm

This one was also taken this morning. If you click on the pic and go to the larger version, you can see the ice on the tree and power lines better.

The next few pics were taken early afternoon when we had about 3/4 of an inch of ice and started losing larger tree limbs.

If you look towards the top of the trees, you can see where some of the limbs broke off. These are the same trees in the first picture.

Thanks Ladies! We only lost power a couple of times the day of the storm. Now we just have a lot of branches that need cut up.

Oh my, please be safe! If you go outside please rapidly shuffle past all power lines, wires in the air and trees. I don’t remember ice storms in eastern Oregon but we sure did have what was called a “silver thaw” that pretty much amounts to the same thing. Snow and icicles melted and then a hard freeze.

As a kid I remember an inch or two of ice on top of 4-6 feet of snow. We used to tunnel under the ice and in general had a great time. Because of all the hazardous roads the school buses couldn’t run so NO SCHOOL!!! Never did we have a clue of all the danger that was created for the adults.

So please be extra careful when you venture outside. Hope you stay warm also. This is a nasty time for your community to experience such a PITA. With everyone having to travel to and from work plus want to do their Christmas shopping.

Golly it must horrid not knowing if your power will be on or not.

Thanks Corinne! We are very lucky that we only lost power for a little while. There are lots of people still without power.

It was above freezing so we had some melting yesterday, but not enough.
