inquiring minds want to know

When creating with your chosen medium, do you start with a sketch? or just an idea? or do you just sit down and play around until something comes to you?
I’ve done all of the above at different times. Most of the time I just have an idea and go at it. About the only time I sketch out an idea or several ideas is when I have lots of designs floating around my head that I don’t want to forget. Most of the time the sketches end up on whatever piece of paper is in front of me. A grocery list with a little doodad scribbled along the side.
These are some recent sketches of ideas which incorporate metal and polymer clay. Hopefully, I will get to some of these ideas in the near future. It might be kind of interesting to see how close the final product resembles the original sketch.

I hardly ever sketch my designs out. I like to get my beadies in front of me and let them just “talk” to me or I will wake up in the middle of the night with an idea and have to go put a rough draft together.
Your sketches are wonderful Chris and I can’t wait to see how these materialize. I’ll have my Paypal account warming up, LOL
