friday finds – Mini-Mocs

This Friday I would like to introduce you to Annie from Mini-Mocs. Her baby shoes are perfect for little feet (soft sole shoes are recommended by pediatricians), easy on and off (no laces to tie and try to keep tied) and they are absolutely adorable.

monday inspiration – fall brights

Bright colors are making a bold appearance this fall. Do you love wearing bright colors? If so, you are in for a treat. Add a bright colored top, dress head to toe in a single color, or pair up a couple bright colors. Color blocking is also big for fall. If you are somewhat color shy, jewelry is a great way to incorporate bright colors on a small scale.

This week’s color palette a week (CPAW) is inspired by fall brights (fuchsia rose, dazzling blue and graphite blue).

internet issues

in the studio – digging out

Today we’re digging out from the snowstorm. Ok, hubby and son are digging out. I’m still in my jammies. I did peek out to take a quick photo.

So, what’s going on in the studio? I finished up the FIMO polymer clay recipes ebook. It’s now listed here and here. Then I had to clean up this mess.

This is what’s currently on my worktable. Beads based on the color palette a week and some flower petals.

Along with some other miscellaneous ideas that I’m playing with.

2010 in review

Another year is coming to a close. Like most other years, it has had it’s ups and downs. We started out the year (January 4th) welcoming our first grandchild. It was a long depressing winter with 90 some odd days of at least 5 inches of snow on the ground. A cool/wet spring. A hot and stormy summer, including a tornado that hit about a mile and a half away from our house. Our daughter’s wedding in August. Fall was beautiful. December brought the unexpected passing of my husband’s brother and the birth of niece (Grace).

As for the year in polymer clay….my polymer clay color recipe ebooks were by far and away the biggest hit of the year. We learned that some were referring to their polymer clay work as just polymer. There were beads and bangles and a new tutorial. All hell broke loose when it was announced that Polyform Products was discontinuing several colors, including cobalt and zinc yellow. It was wonderful to see the polymer clay community pull together to let their voices be heard….and they were heard….Polyform Products announced that they would be keeping cobalt and zinc yellow.

Lace has become my favorite texture to use with polymer clay. I knew there was more lace in this house somewhere, just had to locate it. Yes, I hoard fabric as well as beads.

This is just a sampling of what I found.

Some colors of polymer clay will transfer onto the lace and it’s not very easy to clean without stretching the lace. So, I’m looking for a flexible molding material. ‘ve used Amazing Mold Putty, but it’s almost too flexible, as it moves when pressing into the polymer clay. Do you have any suggestions for me?

hole or slider?

Remember the gray and white dress from my blog feed post a couple weeks ago? As soon as I saw the photo, I knew what I wanted to do….sometimes it takes me a while to get around to it. So, here’s what I came up with.

It is slightly domed and has a flat back. Now, I’m trying to decide if it should be a little thicker to have room for a hole, or if I should put a loop on the back and make it more of a slider. What do you think?
