Heart to Heart pendants

Etsy Angels are supporting the American Heart Association during the month of May. This was my charity pick. So I’d like to share my one of my personal reasons for supporting the American Heart Association.

My 7 month old baby girl needed to have a Patent Ductus Arterious (PDA) repair. Her little lungs were congested with the backed up blood. Her fingernails had a bluish tint to them because the blood was not making its way to the very tips of her little fingers. Her heart was enlarged because it was working so much harder to try to keep the blood pumped through her body.

Surgery went well. Immediately blood flow was back to normal, and within a short time her lungs cleared up and within a year or so her heart was back to normal size. Due to advances in medical treatment they were able to repair her heart through an incision between her ribs instead of going through her chest.

Today she is a perfectly healthy young woman who is going to be a mother herself. She is my personal poster child for supporting heart health.
