Color recipes and plumbing is what’s going on in the studio this week. I’m also working on my articles and cards for the purple issue of From Polymer To Art magazine, but I can’t share that. The FIMO fall/winter 2011-12 color recipe ebook is finished and you can find it in my Etsy shop or my ArtFire shop

As for the plumbing, let’s just say nothing ever goes as planned. That’s even more true when you live in a house that was built in 1900. I love the character of older houses and the fact that I don’t live in a neighborhood full of cookie cutter houses. However, doing any work on an old house is an exercise in frustration.

It all started with the shower and sink not draining in the downstairs bathroom. Hubby took the pipes apart and cleaned them out as best he could, but that didn’t do the trick. So, the problem had to be where they connected to the main sewer line. No problem, we’ll just replace the drain pipes and t-connector.

Well, the t-connector is also connected to the pipe coming from the toilet, which is cast iron. Ever tried to cut through cast iron? Let me tell you it’s not easy. Ended up calling a plumber friend who came with a big chain pipe cutter thing. I guess I haven’t mentioned that since the house was built before indoor plumbing, the bathroom was built on later and just has a crawl space underneath it.

So, he couldn’t get the big chain pipe cutter thing in the space. He did however, tell hubby the right kind of saw blade to get that would cut it. Finally got it cut off around 6pm yesterday and the connector replaced. Now it’s a matter of replacing the sink and shower drain pipes and then praying that nothing leaks. Of course, we haven’t been able to use the toilet during this ordeal. Today I’m grateful we have a port-a-potty in the camper.

Well, it’s hotter than Hades here today. Walked my youngest two blocks to school this morning on his first day back and needed another shower by the time I walked the two blocks back home. YUCK! Yes, it’s early to start back to school, but he is on a year round schedule.

What’s up besides the heat? My pottery beads tutorial is listed my Etsy shop and ArtFire shop.

I’m also working on an inspiration/color ebook, which I’ll talk about more later. Just getting started, so we’ll see how it shapes up. I had another idea to challenge myself to make a focal bead a day. However, after thinking about our crazy summer schedule and the fact that my daughter is getting married next month, I decided that would have to wait until this Fall….I suppose I could shoot for a focal bead a week. Hmmmm….

I think I will work with some cool colors today while I stay inside and enjoy the air conditioning. Sounds like a good plan to me.
