texture

I’m usually all about smooth and shiny, but I’ve been thinking more about texture lately. Of course I have rubber stamps and several texture plates, but wanted something different. So, after reading this post on Maureen Thomas’ blog, I thought hmmmm. Off to the china cabinet I went in search of some cut glass bowls.

Here’s some examples of the textures. You can click on the photo to see a larger version.

The next step was thinking about bead size impressions. Bead size balls of scrap polymer clay in hand I went about making impressions and then reverse impressions. There are a few that I really like. They don’t show up as well in the photo as they do in person, but I’m thinking they would look better with some antiquing.

I’ve been having fun with this and may need to root through some cupboards to see what else I can find to use.

  1. Great textures Chris! I love using cut glass for making molds. I have an etched glass plate with a scene on it that has some wonderful images for molding. The possibilities are endless, aren’t they?! :-)

Thanks Cindy! Yes, the possibilities are endless. There’s a gal in my clay group that carries molding material with her everywhere just in case she finds a great texture somewhere. :) It definitely makes you look at everything with a different perspective.
