yesterday’s rant

Yesterday’s rant has prompted some great discussion. Apparently the reformulation is to remove the phthalates that were used as a filler in the clay. This change is not limited to PREMO!. FIMO and Kato have been reformulated as well. So, whether you agree with the need for a “greener” product or not, the changes have already taken place and we all have to adjust.

I did read that people had complained about the new PREMO! being too soft and the company was working on it, or it may have already been changed. Part of my problem is that I haven’t noticed anything different on the label to indicate if it’s new or old. Quite possibly, there is something there and I didn’t catch it. Hey, after several years of using the same product, who looks at the label? I just grab the colors I need and I’m on my way.

As the saying goes, “Misery loves company”. I’m not happy that there are others less than thrilled with the reformulation (regardless of brand), but it’s nice to know that I’m not alone. I have to say that having several failed projects is not only frustrating, but a real muse killer as well.

I think it comes down to the fact that change is not easy. However, I am positive that the polymer clay community will rise up to the challenges presented by the new formulations and produce even more beautiful works of art.

*back to experimenting*
